The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team snapped a six-game losing streak Saturday with a 2-1 win over Finger Lakes Community College. The road win improves the Panthers to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes drops to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the MSAC.

Not only had it been a month since the Panthers won, the team had gone scoreless during the slump. On Saturday the Panthers put two in the net, both in the first half, to take the win. Jonathan Ardila (Bucaramanga, Colombia/New Cambridge School) got the Panthers on the board first, scoring on a header off an assist from Joe Becraft (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) in the 11th minute of the game, tying the score at 1-1.  The eventually game-winner came in the 30th minute with Brian Burkett (Greenburgh/Woodlands H.S.) converting off an assist from Carlos Rivera (Ithaca/Lansing H.S.).

Jeremy McGrath (Henderson Harbor/Belleville Henderson H.S.) and the defense made it count, recording three saves on the day.

Looking ahead

The Panthers play at SUNY Broome on Wednesday.
