Panthers Lose on Last-Minute Goal at Herkimer

Leading by five heading into the fourth quarter, the Tompkins Cortland men's lacrosse team couldn't hold on, losing 15-14 on a last-minute goal to Herkimer County Community College. The road loss drops the Panthers 1-3 on the year. Herkimer is now 3-2.

The game was tight early, with each team scoring four goals in the first quarter. The Panthers moved ahead in the second, stretching their lead to 10-6 at the half. The lead grew to as much as six goals midway through the third, and the quarter ended with Tompkins Cortland ahead 14-9. The offense went dormant in the fourth while Herkimer creeped back, narrowing the lead to 14-13 with five minutes left. The tying score came with 1:56 left, with the Generals netting the game-winner with 29.2 seconds left.

Billy Kozloski (Johnson City/Johnson City H.S.) and Brandon Pignato (Greece/Greece Athena H.S.) each had eight points on five goals and three assists. Alan Porter-Jackson (Buchanan/Hendrick Hudson H.S.) posted five points on a goal and four assists. Thomas Boyle (Poughkeepsie/Arlington H.S.) and Avery Watson (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) each had a goal and an assists and Brandon Figueroa (Chelsea, Mass./Chelsea) added a goal.

Declan Fullerton (Westchester/Walter Panas H.S.) finished with 19 saves in goal.
