A huge game from Billy Kozloski (Johnson City/Johnson City H.S.) headlined a solid team effort that produced the first win of the season for the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's lacrosse team. Playing at Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday, the Panthers rolled to a 20-5 win over the Hawks. Tompkins Cortland is now 1-2 on the year. Mohawk Valley drops to 0-2.

After opening the season with games against two of the top teams in the region, the Panthers wasted little time in taking control against the Hawks. Kozloski started the scoring parade with a goal in the fourth minute of play. By the end of the quarter the Panthers had an 8-1 lead, and the margin grew to 13-1 at the half. The spread was 17-1 a few minutes into the third quarter before the Panthers ran out the final 20 minutes for the convincing win.

Kozloski had quite a day, scoring 10 goals and 5 assists to finish with 15 points. Each figure was one shy of the school records for goals, assists, and points in a single game. Brandon Pignato (Greece/Greece Athena H.S.) had 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points, and Alan Porter-Jackson (Buchanan/Hendrick Hudson H.S.) had 4 points on a goal and 3 assists. Thomas Boyle (Poughkeepsie/Arlington H.S.) had 2 goals and Brandon Figueroa (Chelsea, Mass./Chelsea) tallied 2 points on a goal and an assist. Lesley Hines (New Haven, Conn./Wingate Campus) and Carter Newcomb (Homer/Homer H.S.) each had a goal and Avery Watson (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) added an assist. In the end a total of eight Panthers registered at least a point.

All three Tompkins Cortland goalies saw time in the pipes, with Declan Fullerton (Westchester/Walter Panas H.S.) starting and earning the win. Fullerton had 3 saves; Tyler Gavitt (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) and Dylan Ford (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) each had two saves in the second half.
