Another dominating performance for the Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team ended with a 19-3 win for the Panthers over Finger Lakes Community College Tuesday. The win was the third straight and fifth in the last six games for the Panthers, who improve to 6-2 overall, 5-2 in Region III, and 3-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes drops to 0-8 overall, 0-4 in Region III, and 0-2 in the MSAC.

The Panthers came in with plenty of confidence, having outscored their previous two opponents by a combined score of 39-13. The confidence only grew as Derek Sammartino (Saddle Brook, N.J./Pascack Hills H.S.) started the scoring with a goal in the second minute of action. By the time the first quarter ended, five different players had scored and the home team had an 8-0 lead. Six goals in the second made the halftime score 14-0 and essentially sealed the result. The first three goals of the third were scored by the Panthers before Finger Lakes broke the shutout bid with a goal with 2:45 left in the quarter.

Seven Panthers found the net, led by Matthew Bisono (Deer Park/Deer Park H.S.) with six goals. Anthony Irizarry (Middletown/Middletown H.S.) finished with four goals and three assists for seven points and Sammartino notched five goals and one assist for six points. Erik Dickerson (Pine Bush/John S. Burke Catholic H.S.), Tyler Ponticello (Homer/Homer H.S.) and Jack Collmer (Vernon/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) each had a goal and an assist and Ian Kilts (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) had a goal.

The defense and goalie Bryan Iannello (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) limited the Lakers to very few chances. Iannello recorded the win with just three saves.

After three straight at home, the Panthers hit the road for the final time in the regular season, traveling to Herkimer College for a game with the Generals on Saturday.
