Panthers Baseball Blanked in Doubleheader Losses

Playing at Mid-State Athletic Conference foe Genesee Community College on Saturday, the Panthers baseball team found it tough to score, dropping both ends of a doubleheader by the same 10-0 score. The losses drop Tompkins Cortland to 5-27 overall and 5-23 in the West Division. Genesee is 20-19 overall and 18-9 in the West Division.

Game One: Genesee 10, Tompkins Cortland 0  (five innings)
Game Two: Genesee 10, Tompkins Cortland 0  (six innings)

Cody Sayre (Spencer/Spencer-Van Etten H.S.) had the lone hit in game one for the Panthers. Frank Marra (Millstone Townships, N.J./Allentown H.S.), Dan Mrowinski (Syracuse/Solvay H.S.), and Jason Winstanley (Lewiston/Lewiston-Porter H.S.) each had hits in game two, but the team again failed to push any runs across the plate.

Looking ahead

The Panthers home doubleheaders with Genesee Community College originally scheduled for Sunday have been pushed back a day due to a rainy weather forecast. The teams are now scheduled to play at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex in Cortlandville on Monday at 2 p.m.
