For just the second time in the history of the program, and the first time since 2010, the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team has qualified for the postseason. The Panthers finished the regular season in third place in the NJCAA Region III West Division and will now take on the second place finisher in the East Division, Hudson Valley Community College, in the first round of the regional playoffs. The Panthers and Vikings will square off in a best two-out-of-three series this weekend in the Capitol District. The teams will play two nine-inning games on Saturday with a final game on Sunday, if needed. The winner will advance to the regional final four, which is played as a double-elimination tournament starting Friday, May 11 in Little Falls.

The Panthers finished the year on a six-game winning streak and winners of seven of the last ten. The late season surge improved the West Division record to 15-10 as the team climbed from sixth to third in the standings in the last week of play. The team ended the regular season with an overall record of 22-14, which set new program record for wins.

Hudson Valley enters the postseason with an East Division record of 19-7 and overall mark of 22-12. The Vikings lost consecutive games just once in East Division play and had a six-game winning streak snapped in the final week of the season. The two teams played just one common opponent: the Panthers swept a doubleheader against Jefferson Community College while the Vikings went 3-1 against Jefferson.

Due to commencement activities at Hudson Valley, Saturday's games will be played at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam beginning at noon. If Sunday play is needed, it will be played at Joe Bruno Stadium on Hudson Valley's campus in Troy.
