On the night the Tompkins Cortland volleyball team recognized its five sophomores, the Panthers played host to Jefferson Community College in the team's home finale. The home team put up a valiant effort against the powerful Cannoneers team, but ultimately fell in straight sets, 25-6, 25-13, 25-19. The Panthers are now 3-14 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson is 22-4 and 5-1.

With two of the sophomores sidelined and unable to play, the remaining three started and saw plenty of court time. Natasha Feocco (Dryden/Newfield H.S.) finished with eight assists and three digs. Megan Ball (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) had three assists and a block, and Samantha Whitehead (Deposit/Deposit H.S.) had a kill.

Molly Baker (Newark Valley/Newark Valley H.S.) led the team with five kills, five digs, and three blocks. Sierra Stauber (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) added four kills and a pair of blocks.

The Panthers next play Monday at Cayuga Community College.
