Panthers Close Out Semester Against Nation's #2 Team

The Tompkins Cortland women's basketball team closed out the fall semester by hosting the #2-ranked team in the nation Sunday. Taking on North Country Community College, the Panthers came up on the short end of an 80-49 final. Tompkins Cortland heads into the winter break with a record of 3-5 overall and 2-5 in Region III. North Country is 11-0 overall and 9-0 in Region III.

The Panthers led early before a 12-2 run moved the Saints ahead 19-10 late in the first quarter. The period ended with the visitors up 21-15, and the margin grew to 46-26 at the half. North Country stretched it to 70-39 after three before each team scored 10 in the final quarter.  

K'Anndra Rhoden (Brentwood/Brentwood H.S.) led the Panthers with 10 points, 6 steals, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds. Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.) added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

It will be more than a month between games for the Panthers. Next up on the schedule is a January 11 game at SUNY Broome.
