The Tompkins Cortland women's basketball team found the range early and often Wednesday, connecting on nine 3-pointers in a 63-45 win over Finger Lakes Community College. Tompkins Cortland is now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes is 3-7 overall and 0-1 in the MSAC.

Ashley Shortsleeve (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) continued her strong play of late, starting with a bang by connecting on three 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Panthers jumped ahead 19-13. Two more from long distance in the second quarter gave Shortsleeve five 3-pointers and the Panthers a 32-22 lead heading into halftime.

The lead remained around ten points most of the third quarter, with Finger Lakes scoring the final three points to cut the margin to 45-38, but the Panthers responded by opening the final quarter with a 9-0 run to put the game away.

By the final horn, Shortsleeve had connected on six 3-pointers, one shy of the team record, for 18 points. Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.) shared leading-scorer honors with 18 points while also hauling in 16 rebounds.
