The Panthers softball team had its best offensive day of the season Tuesday, scoring 14 runs over the course of a doubleheader at Finger Lakes Community College. Even with the uptick in scoring, the Panthers remained winless on the year with a pair of losses to the Lakers, 18-6 and 18-8. Tompkins Cortland is now 0-12 on the year while Finger Lakes is 4-22 overall and 4-16 in Region III.

Finger Lakes 18, Tompkins Cortland 6 (5 innings)

For the first time this season, the Panthers scored first. Two runs in the first inning gave the team a short-lived lead as Finger Lakes answered with five in the bottom of the first. The Lakers added seven in the second, and even though the Panthers kept at it with a run in the third and three more in the fourth, the Lakers had built an insurmountable lead. Five runs in the bottom of the fourth sealed the win and led to the game being stopped due to the run-rule.

The Panthers put up a season-high nine hits, led by three from Ashly Aloi (Cortland/Homer H.S.) who went 3-for-3.  Mackenzie Constable (Sidney/Sidney H.S.) went 2-for-3 and Elizabeth Ripley (Moravia/Home School), Brianna Stafford (Dryden/Dryden H.S.), Paige Graham (Groton/Groton H.S.), and Emily Aloi (Cortland/Homer H.S.) each had a hit

Finger Lakes 18, Tompkins Cortland 8 (5 innings)

The Panthers once again rapped out nine hits, this time scoring a new season-best eight runs. Ripley paced the team with a 3-for-4 effort from the leadoff spot. Ashley Aloi had another big game with two hits and three RBI. Amanda Green (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) had two hits and two runs scored and Emily Aloi and Kimberly Duda (Homer/Homer H.S.) each had a hit.

The Panthers host Corning Community College Thursday in Dryden.
