The Tompkins Cortland cross country team continues to make history in its inaugural season. Taking part in the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) put his name in the record book as the first Panther runner ever to earn all-conference honors, thanks to his sixth-place finish. As a team, Tompkins Cortland finished fifth out of the seven schools in the MSAC.

The MSAC championship meet was held on the campus of Finger Lakes Community College, following the same course as the first meet of the year. Brehm was one of four Panthers to run a faster time this race, and some of the improvements were significant. Brehm crossed the line at 31:12, 1:15 faster than the season-opener. Griffin Scarlata (Groton/Groton) finished 30th overall with a time of 38:39, an improvement of five seconds, followed by Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) in 34th place. McDaniel ran a 40:22, and impressive 4:27 faster than his first race of the year. Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) was 35th at 41:30, an improvement of 4:17. Elijah Speight (Ithaca/Dryden H.S.) was 37th with a time of 47:25 and Anthony McLain (Ithaca/Dryden H.S.) was 38th at 48:07.

The final meet of the year for the Panthers is the NJCAA Region III Championship back at Finger Lakes Community College on October 26.
