The second week of the new cross country season found the Panthers taking part in the Oneonta Airfield Invitational, hosted by SUNY Oneonta. Racing in a strong field made up almost entirely of four-year schools, the Panthers had four runners cross the finish line, including three runners that posted better times than last week. Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) was the first Panther, running a 32:28 on the 8k course, nearly matching his time from last week (32:27). Brehm was the 35th individual runner.
Griffin Scarlata (Groton/Groton H.S.), Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.), and Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) each ran substantially faster this week. Scarlata finished at 36:49, shaving nearly two minutes off his previous time. McDaniel had the biggest improvement, taking 3:40 off his time to cross at 41:09. Sorbera was exactly three minutes faster this week with a 42:47.
The Panthers look to continue to improve when they travel to Utica for the Wildcat Classic hosted by SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, September 21.
