Thursday marked the end of the regular season for the Tompkins Cortland lacrosse team. The Panthers traveled to Batavia to take on #8-ranked Genesee this season, coming home with a 20-2 loss. The Panthers close out the regular season with a record of 2-6 while Genesee is now 5-4 overall and 5-1 in Region III.

The Panthers played hard but couldn't keep up with the Cougars. Genesee scored eight times in the first quarter and led 13-1 at the half. Five more in the third quarter put the game away for Genesee before the Panthers found the goal for the second time in the fourth.

Dante Cuttino (Tully/Tully H.S.) and Kyle Harrington (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) had the goals for the Panthers. Goalie Ben Pallone (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) had nine saves.

Looking ahead

With some teams in the region having as many as three more regular season games, the Panthers still have an outside chance at making the Region III playoffs. If the remaining games go the right way and the Panthers qualify for the postseason, they would play in the opening round of the regional playoffs on Wednesday, May 1.
