Panthers Finish Fifth at Regionals

The Panthers golf team capped the season with a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Region III Golf Championship, played Monday and Tuesday at the Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville. After two days of cold and very wet conditions, the Panthers had a team score of 735 (364 on day one - 371 on day two). Niagara County Community College won the championship in convincing fashion with a 652 (326-326). Cayuga Community College was second with a 681 (333-348) followed by Onondaga Community College with a 692 (352-340). Herkimer County Community College finished fourth with a 720 (362-358).

Sean McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) followed up his opening round 83 with a 94 on Tuesday. His 177 was good for a tie for 16th, just one place out of winning all-region recognition. Jacob Beber (Fort Ann/Fort Ann H.S.) bounced back from his opening round of 99 to score an 86 on Tuesday and 185 for the tournament. Garrett Davenport (Newfield/Ithaca H.S.) went 92 and 94 for a 186 and Jake Woods (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) went 90 and 97 for a 187.
