  • Panthers Finish Fifth at Regionals

    The Panthers golf team capped the season with a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Region III Golf Championship, played Monday and Tuesday at the Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville. After two days of cold and very wet conditions, the Panthers had a team score of 735 (364 on day one - 371 on day two). Niagara County Community College won the championship in convincing fashion with a 652 (326-326). Cayuga Community College was second with a 681 (333-348) followed by Onondaga Community College with a 692 (352-340). Herkimer County Community College finished fourth with a 720 (362-358).
  • McDaniel in Contention After Day One of Regionals

    Sophomore Sean McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) is in contention at the midway point of the NJCAA Region III Golf Championship after firing an opening day 83. As a team, the Panthers put up a score of 364 and sands in fifth place, just two strokes behind fourth place. Niagara County Community College leads the tournament with a 326 and Cayuga Community College is second at 333. Onondaga Community College is at 352 with Herkimer County Community College in fourth, just ahead of the Panthers.

  • Golfers Close Out Regular Season at Genesee

    The Panthers golf team closed out the regular season Sunday at the Genesee Community College Invitational in Batavia. With one of the most balanced efforts of the year, the Panthers had a team score of 352 to finish fourth. Cayuga won the event with a 320, with Niagara one stroke back at 321. Onondaga was third at 331. The host team was fifth with a 385 and Jefferson was sixth at 393.
  • Another Fourth-Place Finish for Panthers

    For the second time in two days, the Panthers golf team finished in fourth place at a tournament in Western New York. After Friday’s tournament at Chautauqua, the Panthers were in Lockport Saturday for the Niagara County Community College Invitational. The host team won the event with a score of 307, followed by Cayuga Community College at 315. Onondaga Community College had a 332 with Tompkins Cortland in fourth at 350. Herkimer County Community College, Genesee Community College, and Jefferson Community College rounded out the field of seven teams.  
  • Panther Open Western New York Swing in Chauatauqua

    The Panthers golf team is ending the regular season with a three-tournament swing through Western New York, starting Friday at the Jamestown Community College Invitational, held at the Chautauqua Golf Course. With six teams taking advantage of the opportunity to play on the course that will host the NJCAA National Championship tournament next month, the Panthers finished in fourth place with a score of 344. Onondaga Community College won the event with a 320 followed by Niagara County Community College at 322. Herkimer County Community College was next at 339. Jefferson Community College was well behind the Panthers in fifth with a 370. Genesee Community College was last at 388.  
  • Panthers End Weekend with Another Solid Performance

    The Panthers golf team closed out the weekend with a solid performance at the Hudson Valley Community College Invitational in Troy on Sunday. With three golfers in the 80s, Tompkins Cortland posted a team score of 348 to finish in sixth place out of eight teams. Niagara County Community College won the event with a 328, with the host team next at 333. SUNY Adirondack was third with a 335, one stroke ahead of Herkimer County Community College. Onondaga Community College finished just two strokes ahead of the Panthers in fifth place with a 346. Genesee Community College and Jefferson Community College rounded out the field, each more than 50 strokes behind the Panthers.
  • McDaniel Leads Panther to Fifth-Place at Adirondack

    Led by a career-best 78 from sophomore Sean McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) the Panthers golf team finished fifth out of nine teams at the SUNY Adirondack Invitational on Saturday. Playing at the Hiland Park Country Club in Queensbury, the Panthers posted a team score of 352. Niagara County Community College won the event with a 321, followed by North Vermont University at 337. Onondaga Community College and Hudson Valley Community College followed at 342 and 345. After Tompkins Cortland, Castleton University (Vt.), Adirondack, Genesee Community College, and Jefferson Community College completed the field.
  • Constable Wins Co-Medalist Honors, Team 3rd at MSAC

    A team score of 379 was good enough for the Panthers to claim third place in the Mid-State Athletic Conference golf championship Friday. And while the team took third place, Mackenzie Constable (Sidney/Sidney H.S.) earned co-medalist honors among female golfers, carding a score of 107 to finish in a tie with Hannah Kirk from Onondaga Community College. Constable’s effort marks the first time a Panther woman has brought home that trophy.
  • Pathers Take Partial Team to Mohawk Valley Invite

    With just a partial team available, three Tompkins Cortland golfers competed as individuals at the Mohawk Valley Invite on Friday. Playing at the Oneida Community Golf Course. Sean McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) carded a 97 and Jacob Beber (Fort Ann/Fort Ann H.S.) came in at 102 for the men while Mackenzie Constable (Sidney/Sidney H.S.) finished fifth among nine female golfers with a 119.
  • Panthers End Weekend with Strong Showing

    The weekend ended with a solid showing by the Tompkins Cortland golf team at the Panthers Invitational Sunday at Elm Tree Golf Course. With four golfers scoring in the 80s, the Panthers took fourth out of nine teams with a score of 334. Cayuga Community College won the event with 403. Cayuga Community College won the event with a 312, just one stroke ahead of Niagara County Community College. Hudson Valley Community College was third with a 322.
  • Woods Leads Panthers at Onondaga Invite

    Three members of the Panthers golf team took part in the Onondaga Tournament on Saturday, getting the opportunity to play the course that will be used for the Region III Championship Tournament in May. Jake Woods (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) was the top scoring Panther with an 89 with Garrett Davenport (Newfield/Ithaca H.S.) one back at 90. Jacob Beber (Fort Ann/Fort Ann H.S.) came in at an even 100.
  • Golfers Open Season With Fifth-Place Finish

    The first tournament of the season always brings it with it the chance of less-than-ideal conditions. The 2019 season-opener was no different, as the NJCAA Region III schedule teed off Friday at the Nicholas J. DeSocio Memorial Invite, hosted by Cayuga Community College at the Highland Park Golf Course in Auburn. With eight teams battling 30+ mph winds and fast greens, the Panthers came in with a fifth-place finish with a score of 403. Niagara County Community College won the event with a 356, six strokes ahead of the host school.
