Panthers Runners Set New Season Bests

The Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country teams toed the line with some top four-year programs on Saturday, taking part in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. Each of the five Panther runners posted season bests while racing in stacked fields that totaled nearly 400 total runners.

On the men's side, Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) again led the Panthers, running a 6:50 per mile pace for a 33:57 over the 8K course. Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) ran a 7:28 pace for a 37:03. Dowain Geesey (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) ran a 7:51 pace to finish in 38:57.

Among the women, Ariahna Metzler (Cincinnatus/Cincinnatus H.S.) was the top Panther, racing at an 8:05 pace for a 25:04 finish for the 5K. Lila Stone (Groton/Groton H.S.) rounded out the sweep of Panthers setting new season bests, running an 8:47 pace to finish in 27:15.
