Panthers Struggle at Jamestown Pod

A week after going 3-0 at a Region III pod, the tables were turned on the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team Saturday as the Panthers went winless in Jamestown. The team lost to Jamestown Community College (3-0), Erie Community College (3-0), and Niagara County Community College (3-1) to drop to 7-9 overall and 6-8 in Region III.

The first match of the day for the Panthers was against the #5-ranked team in the country, Jamestown. The home team won convincingly, 25-2, 25-4, 25-19. Erie was the next opponent to top the Panthers, doing so by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-11. The day ended with a loss to Niagara, losing 25-20, winning the second set 25-16, but dropping the final two 25-20, 25-16.

Amanda Green (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) led the team with 25 assists along with 9 digs and 2 aces. Jade VanWagenen (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) had 13 kills and 10 blocks and Ashley Smith (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) had 11 kills and 16 digs. Erin Harkenrider (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) finished with 9 kills and 8 aces.

On Wednesday, the Panthers take a break from Region III action with a Mid-State Athletic Conference match at Finger Lakes Community College.
