A goal by Leah Williams (Owego/Newark Valley H.S.) in the closing minutes of the first half got the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team on the board Friday, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Panthers lost on the road to Onondaga Community College, 8-1. The Panthers are now 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference on the season. Onondaga is 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the MSAC.

Onondaga scored the first five goals to open the game before Williams broke through for the Panthers. After moving the ball along the end line, Williams passed the ball to front of the goal, and then took the return pass from Imala McDaniels (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) and beat the Onondaga keeper. The score stood at 5-1 at the half, but the Lazers tacked on three more after the intermission to get to the 8-1 final.

Genevieve Elliott (Bath/Penn Yan Academy) had 16 saves in goal for the Panthers.

Looking ahead

The Panthers close out the season at home on Monday against Jamestown Community College.
