The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team played its final home game of the season Sunday. Under blue skies on a crisp autumn afternoon, the Panthers offense could never warm up, failing to mount many serious scoring threats while losing 2-0 to Mohawk Valley Community College. The loss leaves the Panthers at 3-7-2 overall and 3-7-1 in Region III. Mohawk Valley is now 9-2-2 overall and 8-2-2 in Region III.

The game was scoreless at the half, but the Hawks broke through midway through the second and added the insurance goal with just under 11 minutes left to play. The best chance for the Panthers came with 1:30 left on the clock when Paris Good (Syracuse/Ithaca H.S.) got past the defense and was able to put a clean shot on goal. The Mohawk Valley keeper made the save and the Panthers were kept off the board for the seventh time this season.

Katie Slocum (Candor/Candor H.S.) had another solid game in goal, recording nine saves and several more good plays in the box.

The Panthers close out the season Wednesday at SUNY Broome.
