Panthers Drop Home Game to Onondaga

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team returned to Mid-State Athletic Conference play Saturday with a home game against Onondaga Community College. Despite a strong effort, the Panthers were handed a 3-1 defeat, dropping the team's record to 1-4-2 overall, 1-4-1 in Region III, and 0-1-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Onondaga is 3-4-1 overall, 3-1-1 in region, and 3-0-1 in the MSAC.

Onondaga jumped out to an early lead, scoring a goal in the sixth minute of play. The two teams each had chances in the first half, but the score held at 1-0 at the break and well into the second half. With 15:09 left on the clock, Onondaga finally broke through with a second goal, and then iced it with third score with 10 minutes left to play. The Panthers avoided the shutout with a goal by Paris Good (Syracuse/Ithaca H.S.) in the closing minutes.

Katie Slocum (Candor/Candor H.S.) had six saves in goal for the Panthers.

Next up for Tompkins Cortland is a Tuesday game at Genesee Community College.
