A solid effort ran out of gas Wednesday as the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team dropped a home contest to #1-ranked Herkimer College 3-0 Wednesday. The Panthers are now 1-2-2 overall and 1-2-1 in Region III. Herkimer is 5-0 overall and 3-0 in region.

Herkimer opened the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute of play, but the teams played the rest of the half even. Herkimer held an advantage in shots and time of possession, but each team had chances before the break.

In the second half the visiting Generals made it 2-0 with a goal with 33:06 left in the game. Herkimer iced it with a final goal with 7:51 left.

Goalkeeper Katie Slocum (Candor/Candor H.S.) had a strong game in goal, recording 12 saves.

Tompkins Cortland heads back on the road to take on another nationally ranked team this weekend. On Saturday, the Panthers play at #4 Erie Community College.
