Despite controlling the ball most of the game, the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team was unable to find the net, playing to a scoreless tie with Jefferson Community College Wednesday. The Panthers are now 0-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. It was the season opener for Jefferson.

The game didn't go to overtime because lightning was spotted as regulation ended. During the course of the 90 minutes of regulation, the Panthers out-shot the Cannoneers 21-5, but couldn't get one past the Jefferson keeper. Tompkins Cortland goalkeeper Katie Slocum (Candor/Candor H.S.) also met all the challenges she faced, recording three saves for the shutout.

Tompkins Cortland has a week off before hitting the road for the first time this season. The Panthers play at Niagara County Community College Wednesday, September 5.
