A pair of goals from freshman Shannon DeRosa (Poughquag/Arlington H.S.) helped the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team earn a 2-2 draw with Holyoke Community College (Mass.) in the season opener for both teams.

The Panthers had to rally from a goal down twice to force the game into overtime. Holyoke opened the game with a quick score, turning a Panther turnover into a goal just 29 seconds into the game. The first equalizer from DeRosa came in the seventh minute when Sage Garrison (Odessa/Odessa-Montour H.S.) fed her the ball for a blast that beat the keeper from 30 yards out. Holyoke regained the lead in the closing seconds of the half, scoring with 16.5 left on the clock to lead 2-1 at the break.

The Panthers held the ball for the majority of the second half, but struggled to get any shots. They finally broke through with 16:57 left, with DeRosa cleaning up after a corner kick bounced around in the box before finding her foot. When neither team could score the rest of regulation or over two extra periods, the game ended as a 2-2 tie.

Katie Slocum (Candor/Candor H.S.) played all 110 minutes in goal for the Panthers, recording seven saves.
