Tompkins Cortland Community College's Robert Rice has been voted the Mid-State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. Three Panthers joined Rice on the all-conference team: freshmen Serina Guilianti (Harrison/Harrison H.S.) and Nicole Deselets (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley H.S.) and sophomore Angela Martone (Candor/Candor H.S.). A total of 20 player were named to the team, with conference champion Corning Community College leading the way with five selections.

Guilianti was Tompkins Cortland's third leading scorer with 10 points on five goals. Three of her goals, including her lone game-winner, came in the 3-2 overtime win over Jamestown.

Deselets was one of the top defenders in the conference. She anchored a defense that allowed just 20 goals in 16 games this season. In thirteen games the opposition scored two or else, including six shutouts.

Martone was a force in the midfield, controlling play and facilitating offensive chances for the Panthers. Her work may not have translated into big statistics – she scored two goals this season – but it set the tone for each game.

This marks the second MSAC Coach of the Year award for Rice in the last three seasons. In six years as head coach, he has posted a record of 51-40 while leading the Panthers to the postseason five times. This year's team went 10-6, the third time Rice has led a team to double-digit wins.
