Panthers Blanked on the Road

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team couldn't catch any breaks Saturday, losing at Finger Lakes Community College 3-0. The Panthers drop to 7-5 overall, 6-5 in Region III, and 1-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes is now 8-4 overall, 8-3 in region, and 5-1 in the MSAC.

The game was scoreless at the half, but the Lakers got on the board with two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half. The last goal came in closing minutes, making the final score 3-0.

The final spread was deceptive as the game was played evenly for most of the way. The shots were nearly even, with Finger Lakes holding a slight 16-14 advantage in shots and each team posted eight shots on goal. The Panthers had five corners compared to three for Finger Lakes. The biggest difference came in fouls, with Tompkins Cortland whistled for 14 fouls compared to just five on the Lakers.

Kassie Murdock (Stillwater H.S./Stillwater) finished with five saves in goal.

The Panthers look to get back on track at home Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. start against Cayuga Community College.
