Panthers Suffer First Loss

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team's season-opening winning streak came to an end Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Genesee Community College. The loss was the first in six games this year and leaves the Panthers with a record of 5-1 overall and 4-1 in Region III. Genesee is now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the region.

The game was scoreless at the end of the first half, but the visitors took little time getting on the board in the second half. The Cougars scored in the second minute of play in the second half, and then added another goal just 22 seconds later. The third and final goal came in the closing minutes of the game, sealing the result.

Kate Slocum (Candor H.S./Candor) played the entire game in goal, recoding seven saves.

The Panthers hope to get back on track Saturday at home against Erie Community College.
