A slow start was too much to overcome against one of the top teams in the region as the Panthers women's basketball team lost at Jefferson Community College Sunday, 63-42. Tompkins Cortland drops to 6-6 overall and 4-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson moves to 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the MSAC.

The first quarter was all Jefferson, with the home team racing out to a 23-10 lead. Things settled down in the second, with the Panthers outscoring the Cannoneers 11-9 to cut the deficit to 32-21 at the half. Jefferson secured the win in the second half, despite better play from the Panthers.

Amarionah Dixon (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) had a double-double with 11 points and 19 rebounds. Amyra Portillos (Sandi Park, N.M./Manzano H.S.) tossed in 10 points for the Panthers.
