Tompkins Cortland returned to conference play Tuesday, traveling to Corning Community College to take on the Red Barons. Another slow start put the Panthers behind early as Corning cruised to a 76-44 final. The loss leaves the Panthers with a record of 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Corning is 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the MSAC.
The Panthers were outscored 26-13 in the first quarter and trailed 42-28 at the half. Corning put the game away with an 18-10 advantage in the third.
Shaylin Heidl (Candor/Candor H.S.) once again led the team in scoring, netting 15 points while also pulling down 9 rebounds. Elizabeth Ripley (Moravia/Home School) added 9 points and K'Anndra Rhoden (Brentwood/Brentwood H.S.) had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists.
The Panthers host Onondaga Community College Saturday at 2 p.m.
