The combination of cold shooting and a decisive deficit on the boards proved to be too much for Tompkins Cortland to overcome Sunday as the Panthers lost at home to Hudson Valley Community College, 89-39. The Panthers are now 3-7 overall and Hudson Valley is 11-4.

The Panthers made just 25% of their shots from the floor in the first half and trailed 42-24 heading to the locker room. The percentage went down after the break as Hudson Valley stretched the lead out, closing with the final 50-point margin.

For the second straight game, Shaylin Heidl (Candor/Candor H.S.) led the team with 18 points, just missing a double-double with 9 rebounds. K'Anndra Rhoden (Brentwood/Brentwood H.S.) followed with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Emilie Sherwood (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) added 6 points and 8 rebounds.

The Panthers return to Mid-State Athletic Conference play Tuesday at Corning Community College.
