Rough Outing for Panthers Women

After an extended break following the season opening win on November 1, the Tompkins Cortland women's basketball team finally returned to the court Tuesday, travelling to Herkimer College to take on the team with the best record in Region III. The Panthers fell behind early and struggled throughout the whole contest, losing to the Generals by a final score of 86-33.The Panthers are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in Region III. Herkimer is 4-0 overall and in region.

The Panthers struggled to score and to keep a hold of the ball. Tompkins Cortland reached double figures in scoring in only one of the four quarters, and went for just three points in the second quarter. Herkimer jumped out to a 27-9 led after one quarter, stretched it to 48-12 at the half and never looked back. While the offense was having difficulty putting points on the board, the Panthers were having trouble holding on to the ball, committing 32 turnovers to help the Generals stay comfortable with their lead the entire way.

The Panthers will look to put this game behind them when they return home Saturday to take on Clinton Community College.
