Day and Jeffrey Named All-MSAC

Taylor Day and Shantasia Jeffrey

Tompkins Cortland Community College sophomore Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) and freshman Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.) have been named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference team. The duo are among the ten players selected by the coaches from the seven MSAC programs. Ten players were named to the team. Conference champion Jefferson Community College placed three players on the team, followed by two from Tompkins Cortland and Onondaga Community College. SUNY Broome, Cayuga Community College, and Corning Community College each placed one player on the team.

Day was one of the top scorers in the conference. Her 16.0 points per game average was fourth best in the MSAC and her overall shooting percentage of 39.2% was seventh best. One of the best long-distance shooters in the region, she made 35.6% of her three-pointers, second best in the conference. Day scored in double figures in 11 of the 12 MSAC games, with a high of 25 in the January 23 win over Cayuga Community College.

Jeffrey was also among the conference leaders in several statistics. She was eighth in scoring with an average of 13.4 points per MSAC game and was the second-best free throw shooter, making 72.9% from the charity stripe. She led the conference in assists with 5.4 per game and was third in steals with 3.9 per game. Jeffrey posted three double-doubles in conference games, including a 14-point and 14-rebound effort in the February 6 win at Corning Community College.
