The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a good tune-up for the playoffs, challenging the nation's #6-ranked team before eventually falling 76-59 at North Country Community College. The Panthers end the regular season with an overall mark of 9-10 and a Region III record of 9-9. North Country is 21-2 overall and 13-1 in Region III.

Wednesday's game was a makeup from a game originally scheduled as part of a weekend trip. Less than 48 hours after their long trip to Jefferson Community College on Monday, the Panthers were back in the bus for an even longer trip to North Country. The travelling took a toll on the Panthers as the team held close early, but the Saints pulled away in the second half, putting it away with a 24-12 third-quarter advantage.

Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) provided a bright spot with a record-setting performance for the Panthers. The sophomore finished with 24 points, including 12 points on 4 three-pointers. The effort gives her a new Panthers record 54 three-pointers on the season, breaking the old mark of 53 set by Jennifer Iler in 2007-08. Day now has 95 for her career, just seven shy of the career record held by Iler.
