The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team clinched no worse than a #3-seed in the upcoming Mid-State Athletic Conference playoffs with a 67-58 win at Cayuga Community College Saturday. With one conference game left in the regular season, the Panthers are currently in third place in the MSAC with a record of 7-4 in conference and 9-8 overall. A win in their final MSAC game on Monday at Jefferson Community College would move the Panthers up to the #2-seed for the playoffs. Regardless of whether they are the #2 or #3-seed, the Panthers will open the MSAC playoffs against Jefferson next weekend, with the tournament being played at top-seed Onondaga Community College. In addition to the Monday's conference game at Jefferson, the Panthers have a non-conference game at North Country Community College on Wednesday left on their regular season schedule.

Playing at Cayuga (6-15, 1-10 MSAC) Saturday, the Panthers built a double-figures lead in the first quarter and were never really challenged. Macy Boice (Homer/Homer H.S.) continued her strong play of late, scoring eight in the first quarter as the Panthers built a 22-12 lead over the first ten minutes. The lead expanded to 15 points in the second quarter before settling at 37-26 at the half. A 7-0 run to open the third quarter pushed the lead to 18 points, and even though the Spartans managed to trim it back to a dozen at 53-41 at the end of the third, the Panthers opened the fourth with a 10-0 run to the game away. The Panthers led by 63-41 with 6:30 left to play, and cruised to the win despite scoring just four points the rest of the game.  

Boice set a new career-high in scoring, the second time she has done that in the last three games, with 24 points. She connected on 6 three-pointers, one short of the team record and also a career best for Boice, and added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and a blocked shot. 

Amber Whitehead (Deposit/Deposit H.S.) posted her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.) just missed a double-double with 10 assists, 8 rebounds, 6 points, and 5 steals. Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) tossed in 14 points, her tenth-straight game in double figures scoring, and Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) grabbed a team-best 16 rebounds.
