On the night the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team honored the team's three sophomores, the Panthers ran up against one of the top teams in the nation, losing at home to #4-ranked Onondaga Community College 77-54 on Wednesday. The loss leaves the Panthers with a record of 6-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 8-8 overall. Onondaga, the first-place team in the MSAC, is 10-0 in conference and 19-5 overall.

The lead changed sides twice in the first quarter, but the visiting Lazers used a 13-2 run to end the quarter with a 27-9 lead. The score stood at 43-21 at the half, but the Panthers out-scored the Lazers 16-11 in the third to enter the final quarter trailing 54-37. The final 23-point margin came after Onondaga outscored the Panthers 23-17 in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) led the Panthers with 15 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. Fellow sophomore Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) just missed a double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds and classmate Amber Whitehead (Deposit/Deposit H.S.) chipped in with 2 points and 3 boards. Macy Boice (Homer/Homer H.S.) had her first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.) added 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals.

The Panthers close out the regular season with three road games, starting with Saturday at Cayuga Community College.
