The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team ran out to a big early lead and never looked back Tuesday, cruising to a 58-31 win over Corning Community College in Mid-State Athletic Conference action. The win improves the Panthers to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the MSAC. Corning falls to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the MSAC.

Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) opened the scoring with a bucket early in the first quarter, giving the Panthers a lead they would not relinquish. The first quarter ended with the Panthers up 21-8, and the lead grew to 34-15 at the half. A big third quarter made the lead 53-19, essentially putting the game out of reach. Every member of the home team played substantial minutes, especially in the final quarter as the clock ran down on the decisive win.

Day again was the leading scorer, pouring in 18 points while also pulling down 8 rebounds and swiping 2 steals. Macy Boice (Homer/Homer H.S.) had 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Kerrin O'Shaughnessy (Worcester/Worcester H.S.) had a big line of 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 blocks, and Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.) just missed a double-double while putting up 9 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) cleaned up on the glass with 15 rebounds.

The first road game of the semester is up next for the Panthers. The team heads north to Syracuse for a Saturday game against #6-ranked Onondaga Community College.
