Five players scoring in double figures, including three who posted double-doubles, propelled the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team to a 65-53 win over SUNY Broome Saturday. The victory in the spring semester opener improves the Panthers record to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Broome drops to 7-8 overall and 1-1 in the MSAC.

An 11-3 run to open the final period broke things open as the Panthers stretched the lead to a high of 17 points before settling in at the 12-point win.

All five Tompkins Cortland starters reached double figures in scoring, with Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science), Shantasia Jeffrey (Harlem/Curtis H.S.), and Amber Whitehead (Deposit/Deposit H.S.) each posting double-doubles. Brown had 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Jeffrey had a hug line of 14 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Whitehead had 10 points and 11 rebounds, season highs in both categories.

Macy Boice (Homer/Homer H.S.) scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half, including six on back-to-back three pointers that blew the game open early in the fourth quarter.
