A triple-double from Tatiana Minnick (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) and another record-setting performance from Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) powered the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team to a convincing win over Corning Community College Thursday. The 74-50 victor improves the Panthers to 6-3 in Mid-State Athletic Conference and 12-7 overall. Corning drops to 7-13 in overall and 3-6 in the MSAC.

Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) started the game in style, draining a three-pointer on the opening possession. The Panthers would hold the lead the entire game, stretching it to 20-10 at the end of the first quarter and 46-20 at the half. The lead peaked at 29 points in the third quarter and remained above 20 the rest of the game, ending with the 24-point margin.

Minnick and Washington were both outstanding. Minnick posted the first triple-double of her collegiate career with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and 4 steals. Washington scored a game-high 24 points while grabbing 9 rebounds and blocking 5 shots. Her second rebound of the game moved her into first place on the school's all-time career rebounding list, passing the mark of 535 set by Heather Andrews in 2004. Washington now holds both the single-season and career records for rebounds and blocked shots, in addition to the single-game record for blocked shots.

Day added 12 points and Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) had 8 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

In addition to solidifying the Panthers' hold on third place in the MSAC, it also the Panthers will end the regular season eligible for the NJCAA Region III playoffs with a regional record above .500. The Panthers are now 11-6 in region with four games left on the schedule.

Next up on the schedule for the Panthers is a road game at SUNY Adirondack Saturday.
