Panthers Drop Third-Straight Road Game

A season-long three-game road trip ended Wednesday with the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team on a season-worst three-game losing streak. The Panthers lost at Finger Lakes Community College 68-56 to fall to 4-5 overall, 4-4 in Region III, and 0-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes improves to 7-2 overall, 7-1 in region, and 1-0 in the MSAC.

Things looked good early as the Panthers took a nine-point lead early in the first quarter, but Finger Lakes rallied back to move in front 20-14 by the end of the first quarter. The Lakers led 35-28 at the half and 56-48 after three quarters before extending the score to the final margin in the fourth.

MacKenzie Kenyon (Ovid/South Seneca H.S.) led three Panthers in double figures with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) had 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) finished with 12 points. Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) added 8 points and 7 rebounds.

The Panthers return home Sunday to close out the semester with a 1 p.m. game against Hudson Valley Community College.
