Bats Go Quiet for Panthers Softball vs. Hudson Valley

The bats went silent for the Panthers softball team Thursday as the team dropped a doubleheader to Hudson Valley Community College, 11-0 and 16-0. Tompkins Cortland is now 4-10 on the season; Hudson Valley is 14-8.

Game One: Hudson Valley 11, Tompkins Cortland 0  (five innings)

Andrea Medovich (Kirkwood/Windsor H.S.) led off the game by drawing a walk, but it was the fourth inning before the Panthers had a hit. To open the fourth, Abby Foley (Barton/Toga H.S.) and Gabby Foley (Barton/Tioga H.S.) each reached on bunt hits, but were stranded on base. Elizabeth Cobb (Cortland/Cortland Christian Academy) was the only other Panther to collect a hit, a single in the fifth inning.

Game Two: Hudson Valley 16, Tompkins Cortland 0  (five innings)

The hits were even harder to come by in game two as a pair of Hudson Valley pitchers combined to throw a perfect game, keeping the Panthers off the bases entirely.

Looking ahead

The Panthers play at SUNY Adirondack on Saturday.
