Panthers Softball Drops Two at Broome

The Panthers softball team fell to 0-4 on the season with a pair of losses to SUNY Broome on Wednesday, 8-0 and 15-1. All four Tompkins Cortland losses have come in Region III play. With the wins, Broome improves to 5-5 overall and 5-3 in Region III on the year.

Broome 8, Tompkins Cortland 0 (5 innings)

In game one, the Panthers were limited to a single hit while being shut for the second time this season. By the time the game ended, the Panthers had gone 11 innings in a row without scoring a run, dating back to their season-opening doubleheader with Erie Community College.

Broome 15, Tompkins Cortland 1 (5 innings)

The nightcap saw the Panthers finally get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning of the nightcap, but Broome used several two-out rallies to put the game away early. Thirteen of Broome's 15 runs were scored with two outs in the inning, giving the Hornets the comfortable win.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are back home Saturday, playing host to nationally ranked Herkimer College for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
