Panthers Take Third at MSAC Championship

Racing at the Mid-State Athletic Conference championship, the Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team finished in third place. Finger Lakes Community College won the event with a score of 27 points, followed by Corning Community College with 34 points. The Panthers posted a team score of 67 points.

The race was hosted by Finger Lakes Community College on the same course that will host the Region III championship next year. Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) was the top Panther, covering the 8K course in a time of 31:52, 8th best in the conference. Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) was one place back with a time 32:03. Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) came in 15th by crossing the line at 34:57. Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) was 17th at 36:53 and sophomore Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) posted his best time in four races on this same course (three last year), coming in at 38:02 for 18th place. Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) ran a 43:40 for 19th place and Keiyondre Lester (Oxford, Miss./Oxford H.S.) ran a 49:46 for 20th.

The Panthers close out the season Saturday at the Region III championship. The final race of the season will be held at Finger Lakes Community College.
