Panthers Race at Finger Lakes-Newark Invite

Running on a beautiful fall day in Newark, the Tompkins Cortland Community College team finished fourth at the third week of the Region 3 cross country season. Taking part in the 5K Invite hosted by Finger Lakes Community College on their Newark campus, the Panthers posted a team score of 83 for the third straight fourth-place finish. Corning Community College won the event with a score of 39 with the host school right behind at 42. SUNY Broome was third with a score of 57. Fulton-Montgomery Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College each entered runners, but not enough to complete a full team.

Six Panthers either matched or bettered their previous best finish. Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) was the 11th fastest individual overall with a time of 20:54. Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) was 18th with a time of 23:08. Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) had a personal best finish of 19th place with a time of 23:52, followed by Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) in 26th place with a 25:58. Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) was one place behind with a time of 27:10 and Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) was 29th with a 29:25. Keiyondre Lester (Oxford, Miss./Oxford H.S.) made his season debut with a time of 36:59, good for 30th place.

The Panthers continue the Region 3 season on Saturday, October 3 at the Mohawk Valley Community College.
