The only sport competing this fall in the NJCAA Region 3 saw its season get started Saturday at Tompkins Cortland Community College when the College hosted the TC Panthers Cross Country Invite. Using a new race format that had only one team on the course at a time, runners from six school participated. Corning Community College won the team event, Finger Lakes Community College runner Hunter Brignall posted the top time among men, and Fulton-Montgomery Community College runner Kira Williams finished with the best women's time.

The Panthers finished fourth among teams competing on the very tough 5K course on the Dryden campus. Freshman Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) led the way with a time of 19:43, good for 11th overall. Sophomore Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) was 18th overall at 21:29, just two places ahead of Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) at 21:51. Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) crossed the line at 24:16 followed by Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) at 25:29, finishing in 25th and 26th, respectively. Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) rounded out the team with a time of 28:17.

The Panthers continue the Region III season on Saturday, September 19 at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
