May 25, 2023: Jamie Phillips has been appointed the head coach of men’s soccer at Tompkins Cortland Community College. He takes over after serving as the top assistant since 2021, working with longtime soccer coach and current Director of Athletics Mick McDaniel.

Phillips’ lengthy soccer resume dates back to his playing days at Vestal High and as part of the NCAA Division II national championship team at Southern Connecticut State University. He has coached soccer at many levels, including more than a decade as the assistant coach for Dryden High. He also counts starting a new club team (Dryden Falcons) among his soccer experiences.

“Men’s soccer has been one of the College’s legacy programs, and I’m excited for its future under Coach Phillips,” said McDaniel. “Coach Phillips knows all aspects of the game and what it takes to be successful, both on and off the field. Over the past two years, Coach Phillips has been building a team with local, regional, and international student-athletes and the 2023 squad will be reflective of his efforts. From his first days starting with our program in the winter of 2021, preparing for the only spring soccer season in the history of the NJCAA, Coach Phillips’ positive influence on the players in our program has been nothing short of exceptional.”
