Hosting the #3-ranked team in the nation on Wednesday, the Tompkins Cortland men's soccer team kept the game close for a half before things got away in the second. The final result was a 6-0 los to Cayuga Community College, dropping the Panthers to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga improves to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the MSAC.
Taking a defensive-minded approach, the Panthers kept Cayuga off the scoreboard until the 42 minute of play. The second score came midway through the second half, and seemed to take the wind out of the Panthers as Cayuga scored twice over the next eight minutes. The final two scores came in the closing moments, including the sixth goal with just 29 seconds left in the game.
Looking ahead
The Panthers are back home Sunday to host #10-ranked Genesee Community College.
