The first weekend of the season for the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team ended with a 3-1 loss at North Country Community College Sunday. The Panthers are now 0-2 while North Country improves to 2-3.

North Country scored in the 30th and 38th minutes of play to lead 2-0. The Panthers cut the lead in half when freshman Nathan Stuart (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley H.S.) got his first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the 41st minute. The 2-1 margin held into the second half, but the Saints tacked on an insurance goal in the 59th minute and then held off the Panthers for the 3-1 final.

Dylon Conklin (Moravia/Southern Cayuga H.S.) had another steady game in goal, recording 11 saves.

Next up for the Panthers is the home opener on Sunday, September 8. Tompkins Cortland welcome Niagara County Community College for a 12:30 p.m. start.
