A slow start on Sunday for the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team gave the visiting Finger Lakes Community College Lakers all the space they would need as the Lakers handed the Panthers a 3-1 loss. With the loss Tompkins Cortland drops to 5-7 overall, 4-7 in Region III, and 2-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes is now 10-3 overall, 8-3 in region, and 3-3 in the MSAC.

The Lakers scored the first three goals of the game. The opener came midway through the first half, and the next two came early in the second. The Panthers got their lone goal with 26:48 left in the game when Hugo Sauriat (New York City/Frank McCourt H.S.) scored off an assist from Greg Depue (Newfield/Twin Tiers Christian Academy).

Next game for the Panthers is at home at 5 p.m. on Thursday against Cayuga Community College.
