Men's Soccer Can't Hold Lead, Lose in Overtime

The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team held a 3-1 lead midway through the second half Wednesday at Niagara County Community College Wednesday, but the Panthers weren't able to hold on as the Thunderwolves rallied to win 4-3 in overtime. The loss drops the Panthers to 2-2 on the season, and 1-2 in Region III. Niagara improves to 2-1 overall and in region.

The Panthers took the lead early with a goal in the opening moments, but Niagara tied the game with 10 minutes left in the half. Tompkins Cortland grabbed the lead back before the break, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime. Midway through the second half the Panthers added another goal to push the lead to 3-1, but Niagara gain responded, eventually tying the score on a goal with 2:15 left in regulation. The game-winner came in the fourth minute of overtime, completing the comeback for the Thunderwolves.

Tompkins Cortland looks to regroup with a week off before returning home to host Herkimer College Wednesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m.
