A trio of goals over an eight-minute span in the first half powered the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Jefferson Community College Wednesday. The home win improves the Panthers to 2-1 on the season, and 1-0 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson is now 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the MSAC.

The Panthers featured a balanced attack, with three different player scoring a goal and another three different recording an assist. The first score came in the 20th minute of play, with Richard Cochrane (Groton/Cortland Christian Academy) scoring off an assist from Kemar Tyndale (Bloomfield, Conn./Plainville H.S.). Six minutes later the lead doubled with Noah McPherson (Hartford, Conn./Bulkeley H.S.) heading in a cross from Marc Harris (Homer/Homer H.S.), and just a minute later the score went to 3-0 when Nate Moon (Treadwell/Delaware Academy) found the net off an assist by Antonio Mendez (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.).

Jefferson broke the shutout ten minutes into the second half, scoring on a breakaway. Sean McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) played the whole game in goal for the Panthers, recording his second win of the season.

Tompkins Cortland is off a week. The Panthers play at Niagara County Community College Wednesday.
