The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team came out on the short end of a 2-1 final against Hudson Valley Community College Sunday. The result leaves both teams with a record of 1-1 on the season.

The visiting Vikings opened the scoring with 18:48 left in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead into the half. The Panthers answered early in the second half, tying the game on pretty header by Marc Harris (Homer/Homer H.S.) off a corner kick by Noah McPherson (Hartford, Conn./Bulkeley H.S.). The tie lasted until midway through the second half when the Vikings recaptured the lead by taking advantage of a defensive breakdown on the part of the Panthers. The home team had several chances over the final minutes, but couldn't break through with the needed goal.

Jacob Beber (Fort Ann/Fort Ann H.S.) had five saves in goal.

Tompkins Cortland returns to action Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home game against Jefferson Community College.
